--How to eat Sushi--

Hello and welcome to videojug.
We are going to show you the correct way to eat Sushi.

*

If you're new to Japanese food, don't be intimidated.
There are a few do and don'tdo's and don'ts, but (as for all food as that be enjoyed.)as with all food, it's there to be enjoyed.

*

Sushi is cold cooked rice flavored with vinegar, shaped into bite-size pieces and on topthen topped with raw or cooked fish,

*

all formed into a (roll...)a roll with fish, egg or vestables and wrapped in seaweed.

*

■Step1 What to expect
Your place setting should includes a napukin, a plate,
a small block called a Hashi-Oki onto which you'll rest your chopsticks,
and a small shallow dish. this is for pouring soy sauce into.

■Step2 Drinks
You may begin the meal wiht warm sake. This is an alcohoic wine- like drink made from (...ted)fermented rice.

*

It is then customarily move on to either green tea or (beverage) inbeer during the meal.Green tea should be served with a small hand-less cup, like this.If you are female, it is good mannar to hold the cup with one hand and withuse the other to support the bottom.

*

■Step3 Chopsticks
Although it is easyer to eat larger pieces of Sushi bywith your fingers,
you should also use the chopsticks for some pieces, and for Sashimi; athe thin slices of fish which often start the meal.

*

You arewill most likely be withusing disposable wooden chopsticks.

Handy Hint

Wooden chopsticks often have a few loose splinters of wood which can make the manthem unconfortable to hold. These can be removed by rubbing the sticks together. Do not let you (foresee)your host see doing this (as it in prices they are cheap)as it implies that they are cheap.

*

When selecting a piece of the sushi from a serving dish, use the wider end of the sticks, not the end you put in your mouse.

*

Never pass food to another person from your chopsticks to theirs. This mimics part of thea Japanese funeral ritual and it is therefore considered extremely rude.

When you are not using your chopsticks, rest them on athe Hashi-Oki or clossacross your plate. But do not lean them on itthe edge of your plate.

*

■Step4 Soy Sauce
Pour (a little) of soy sauce into your dish. Don't tip in too much. This is considered greedy or wasteful. You can take more if you need it.

*

■Step5 Wasabi
This is the extremely hot green paste (which) companied withtaht accompanies most Sushi dishes. Take a small amount with your chopsticks and carefully stir into your soy sauce. Again don't get too heavy handed as it would (overwrite)override subtle flavours Sushi that could offend the chief.

*

■Step6 Eating the Sushi
You should begin with Sashimi; slices of raw fish, handle these with your chopsticks and take time to savour the flavour. Then move on to rice base Sushi which you can eat with your hands or chopsticks whichever you prefer.

*

Pick the piece up and dip it fish-side-down in the soy sauce. Do not downdunk the rice into the sauce this will make it too soggy and difficult to eat. Place the Sushi in your mouse fish-side-down too, (as it flavoure the fish not the rice as important here. ) as it is the flavor of the fish, not the rice that's important here.

Ideally you should eat the Sushi piece one go or (two to push). in one go, or two at a push. Try not to take a bite (....) on return it to your plate.

*

■Step7 Pickled ginger
These are the pale pinkish slices often served with Sushi. The idea is to eat a slice ofin between Sushi pieces to clean the (pa...)palette. Use chopsticks for this, not your hands.

*

■Step8 Clear your plate
As much as possible, try not to leave any food on your plate. This is considered especially rude to leave rice.

*

Done!

*
